The main railway station in Amsterdam - in Dutch the Centraal Station - receives you as you take the train from Schiphol airport towards the city centre. Designed by Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers and first opened in 1889, the Gothic/Renaissance Revival station buidling welcomes you and 259.999 other passegners a day. By arriving there, you already see the Netherlands' most visited national heritage site, because that's what this train station is!
